What is energy healing (reiki) for horses?
Energy healing (reiki) is a complimentary therapy for animals, and can have great results with horses. Energy is channelled through the hands of the therapist directly to the horse to activate the body’s natural ability to heal itself, releasing blocked energies, to support physical, mental and emotional challenges, illness and injury. Equine Reiki is non invasive and uses no pressure or manipulation. It is a holistic therapy treating the cause of the problem and not just the presenting condition, and aims to benefit the horse as a whole.
How can reiki help my horse?
Energy healing for horses helps to relieve a variety of conditions and challenges: from emotional, such as anxiety from past trauma (sometimes simply from having multiple owners or moving yards); to physical, including supporting injury recovery or chronic illness.
Every horse can benefit from reiki, from competition horses to field companions, and healthy and happy horses can benefit too! They will enjoy a deeply relaxing treatment that will enhance their general well-being.
What is a reiki massage?
Some horses will benefit hugely from reiki healing being given alongside a relaxing intuitive massage. The energy healing will continue throughout the session, but incorporating gentle massage moves can mean even further benefits for the horse - both physically and emotionally, and in a holistic way too.
This type of massage is 'horse-led', allowing them to enjoy different parts of their body being massaged with a pressure they are comfortable with, and also includes using meridians and acupressure points.

The flow of Reiki energy
Explaining to vets how reiki healing energy will flow to where it is most needed in a horse, as a holistic therapy, but that as healers we are intuitively guided to different parts of the body too.
Relaxed and getting sleepy
Some horses get very sleepy during a reiki healing and massage session; others stay more alert - there is no one correct response! Molly was also directing me here to the part of her body she wanted me to work on.

Monos - a lovely horse I gave healing to at a wonderful sanctuary in Egypt was lapping up the healing energy, but stayed relatively alert during the session, but focussed on what I was doing - every horse responds in the best way for them at any given time.
